BACK TO BERLIN.

I haven't been to Berlin since May of 2007. Even still, I consider Berlin my 3rd home (behind NYC and Tokyo); so it was good to come back to the bloc. The best attribute of Berlin, (observed back in '07) is still true today: Creativity for no apparent purpose. As in NYC, there is no end game to everything. There's no strong desire for fame. People do their craft simply because they want to. The city seems to foster this thinking. There are so many stores, artists, people, galleries and businesses where you ask yourself "WHAT? HOW? WHY?" And the answer is usually simply, "It's Berlin, man. Berlin." War fresh in the mind. Rents and real estate at rock bottom prices. And a huge liberal influx of different artists, cultures and people make for great ingredients to an exciting city. It's what I love about Berlin. And it's why I am happy to be back. More to come...
2007年の5月以来のベルリン訪問です。それでも、ベルリンは僕の第3の故郷だと思っているので（ニューヨークと東京の次）、また訪れることが出来てとてもいい気分でした。ベルリンの一番の特徴（2007年に気づいた事は今でも健在）：理由なき創造力。ニューヨークであるように、ここでも全てのものに目的がない。有名になる願望もない。人々はタダそれをしたいからする。この都市はその考えを持っているようです。「何？どうやって？なぜ？」と自分に問いかけるようなお店、アーティスト、人、ギャラリー、ビジネスがたくさんあります。ただ、答えはいつも単純に「ベルリンだからだよ、ベルリン。」戦争がまだ脳裏に残ったまま。不動産と地代は暴落し、色々なアーティスト、カルチャー、人々の新しい流入が活気ある都市に作り変えています。それがベルリンの好きなところです。だからいつも帰ってくると嬉しくなります。まだまだ続きます．．．
