In what many are calling the most comprehensive study of its kind, Staten Island historians Robert Wilburn and Charles Tinsley have successfully traced the lines of the infamous Wu-Tang Clan all the way back to 1993 A.D.
"Through our exhaustive research, we have determined not only the start of the Wu-Tang Clan's reign, but also the very moment of its legendary downfall," said Wilburn, who has authored numerous books on the House of RZA. "Indeed, we now have conclusive proof as to why all the other wannabe MCs bowed down to this dynastic force."
"It was an immense project," said Tinsley, who coauthored the 450-page genealogical report. "For instance, it took us months to conclude that Ol' Dirty Bastard, Dirt McGirt, Big Baby Jesus, Osirus, Dirt Dog, and Peanut the Kidnapper were all the same person."

Also these new Apple in ear headphones are amazing (thanks EW!). They are like 75x better than the joints the iPhone comes with. The remote and mic are much better as well. Plus the unboxing process is orgasmic. Another great gift idea. If anything, these are just TOO good for everyday use. I actually don't like being completely cut off from the world when I'm listening to music or on a phone call. These are good for a plane ride. But for everyday use, I simply prefer the old standbys.

Oakley JPN just released a small capsule collection called the HIGH FUNCTION LINE (HFL). It's very dope and I won't bother taking pictures of it because my photos won't do it justice. Hypebeast has some photos here. I visited their HQ and got a first hand look. I had to grab the Kevlar blazer for myself. Only 50 of each so call your best friend in Japan now! They finally did it. They cloned HF. This one is more interesting than the real one. ついにやりました。HFをクローンしました。こっちのほうが本物より面白いです。

PLACING THINGS WHERE THEY SHOULD BE.

There's a lot of talk over Kanye West's new album 808s & Heartbreak. Many people question whether it is "real" hip-hop...if Auto-Tune is lazy...if Kanye should be singing or not. Personally, I really like the album. I think it's "headphone-music" rather than "play-loud-with-your-friends" type music. Try listening to it on a cold rainy night walking alone in NYC--It becomes your soundtrack. And also, I think if people are arguing about his work, he's already succeeded as an artist--love it or hate it.
My friend Tet who does the clothing line, W)Taps often talks about "Placing Things Where They Should Be." W)Taps is one of my favorite brands and his detailed work exemplifies this. I often work in this manner as well. For example, when I create a logo and need to place where it should be on a shirt, I let the logo decide. Is that strange? It might sound strange, but it's not. I literally feel like the artwork tells me where to go. And I just put it there.
Listen to the first track on Kanye's album. It's call "Say You Will". At 3:06, the song rides into a simple instrumental loop for 3 more minutes. No vocals. Little variation. Unheard of in a hip-hop song...especially the opening song. At first glance, you might think it's lazy. But after a few listenings, I realized it continues this way because (possibly) it "told" Kanye to let it play. It didn't want to end...even though that is what's supposed to happen. I thank Kanye for showing me that "Placing Things Where They Should Be" works not just in fashion, but in all art forms.

I'm in Japan working on Burton's iDiom 2011 collection. Hiroshi has this cool crystal ball that we look into. You just type the year and it'll tell you what will be cool in that particular year. So that ball makes this job easy. Damn, imagine if we didn't have that crystal ball...
I also got to see the final salesman samples for the 2010 collection. Start saving your money now. It's dope!!!

HF REHEARSE.

Kangol recently celebrated their 70th Anniversary in Tokyo and I'm in town for the festivities. Hiroshi Fujiwara and Ino Hidefumi will perform live as the main attraction. The night before, it was practice time for HF and Ino. I got to sit in on the session. It was cool and laid back. Just a casual jam session in a small dark club.

The Giz guys created this virtual tour of the Annex gallery space and its so sick! The VR and hi definition are unbelievable. You can see the hair growing out of Brian Lam's follicles! HERMAN MILLER.

I recently went to the Herman Miller NYC Design Showroom to check out the new Embody chair. My butt needed to feel this thing first hand. I've been using the Aeron Chair for a while now. The Aeron is the Sherman Tank of task chairs. It's solid, very customizable and very comfortable. But it lacks mobility and simplicity. It's quite literally a tank and while it feels great, its also very immobile. In fact, when I wanted a new task chair for my home office, I opted for the minimal and featherweight Knoll Chadwick chair.
For the few minutes I spent in the Embody, I was sold. Check out the Embody site. It's pretty sick. I guess you'd have to make a site like this to get people to drop $1600 MSRP.
先日新しいEmbodyの椅子をチェックするため、ニューヨークにあるHerman Millerのデザインショールームに行きました。僕の尻で実際座り心地を確かめたかったのです。僕はいままでAeron Chair を使っていました。The AeronはオフィスチェアのSherman Tankのような存在です。しっかりしていて、カスタマイズができて、とても座り心地がいい。でも、可動性がなく、シンプルでもない。本当にタンクのようで、座るのにはいいのですが、動きにくいのが難点。ホームオフィスの新しい椅子にはミニマルで軽量なKnoll Chadwickにしました。

Herman Miller makes honey?! Well sort of. Story has it their HQ once had a wasp infestation. Because they are a green company, they could not use any pesticides to remove the wasps. They figured out that bees naturally kill wasps (who knew?) So they had a beekeeper come in, let the bees do their genocide, then fly back into the hives. It worked. And as a bonus, HM was left with all this honey! So instead of letting it go to waste, they bottled and give it away as a gift. It's mighty good!

Think I'm OCD about chairs? Work 18 hours a day for 11 years in front of a computer and you'll know why I'm obsessed with chairs. I spend more time in my chair than I do my bed. 椅子についてこだわり過ぎだと思いますか？一日18時間、11年間パソコンの前で働いていれば、何で椅子に執着するかがわかります。ベッドより椅子にいる時間のほうが多いのです。
