SINGAPORE.

Recently, I was invited by Piers at PSFK to take part in his first ever conference outside of the USA. The fact that it was a land that I've never been to made it all the better. Singapore! The Sing has always given Staple and my business mad support, so I was exited to head out there on my virgin trip. Singapore is like an interesting adaptation of Utopia. All the streets are clean (except Geylang), all the trees are manicured, all the people are very nice. It's really sort of...well...perfect! But interestingly, with perfection comes a price. And I might say that's boredom? I mean, I personally was never bored there, but it was sort of the overriding complaint from the natives I was hanging with. Granted the country is small. You can drive from one coast of Singapore to other side in 40 minutes. In addition, the country has only had its independence for 40+ years. Overall, I think Singapore is a dope place. You just gotta get accustomed to the heat, and eating outside on the street all the time.
先日、アメリカ以外で行われるのが初のPSFKにPiersより招待されました。僕が行ったことのない国で行われたので、よりいっそう良かったです。シンガポール！シンガーポールの人たちはStapleと僕のビジネスを良くサポートしてくれているので、初滞在に興奮しながら向かいました。シンガポールはユートピアを思い起こします。道端はきれいで（Geylang以外は）、木々は手入れされていて、人々はみんなとても親切。ようするに。。。完璧！でも、面白いことに、完璧さには欠点がありました。それは、退屈さ？僕自身、いたときは退屈はしませんでしたが、僕が一緒にいた地元の人達からよく聞く文句でした。確かに、国は小さい。シンガポールの一番端の海岸から反対まで行くには運転でたったの40分。それに、まだ独立して約40年しかたっていません。でも、僕はシンガポールはかなりいい場所だと思います。暑さと食べるときはいつも道端ということに慣れれば。



Locals say that if you didn't make your guest gain at least 10 pounds by the time they leave Singapore, you've failed as a host. Singapore's claim to fame is the food. Being at the center of Australia, India, China, Japan and the Southeast Islands, Sing is a crossroads of culinary arts. Above is their famous Chicken Rice. The most tender chicken. The fluffiest rice that comes shaped like a pyramid. By far the best thing I had in Sing.
地元の人曰く、シンガポールに訪れたゲストもてなす際には、その人が帰るまでに最低２キロは体重が増えてないと良いホストではないようです。シンガポールが有名なのは食。オーストラリア、インド、中国、日本と東南アジアの島々の中心にあるシンガポールは食文化の交差点。上にあるのは有名なチキンライス。やわらかいチキン。ピラミッド型で出てくるふっくらとしたライス。シンガポールで食べたものの中で一番でした。


Seafood is also amazing. I tried this delicacy call Golden Crab. Check out these special scissors made razor sharp for cutting through shell and then yanking the meat right out! シーフードもすばらしい。ゴールデンクラブという珍味をいただきました。甲羅を切って、身を抜く用に切れ味鋭い特別なハサミを見てください！


Zouk is the mainstay nightclub of Singapore. It's been around 17 years! That's almost half the age of the country itself! Tracy, who heads up the marketing for the club took me for a tour.
Zoukはシンガポールの有名なナイトクラブ。17年もやっています！建国されてからの年数の約半分もの間です！クラブのマーケティングをするTracyがツアーをしてくれました。


Check out their backroom collection of house records. Pretty amazing and well organized for a nightclub. See? Utopia for DJs!

Ran into cool people all over the place in Singapore. It's definitely a small town...Where everybody knows everybody else. シンガポールでは色々な面白い人たちに会いました。とても小さな場所なので。。。みんなが顔見知り。

Earn from Surrender probably runs one of the most respected shots in the Pacific Rim. They just underwent a renovation and it looks amazing. You can check out some photos here.

AlsoDominie is the strangest name for the bestest print house in the land and possibly the world. The print work they produce is simply inspiring. Oth and Junny were wonderful guides for me AND we've got some really exciting things in the works.
AlsoDominieという変わった名前を持つのはこの地域、もしくは世界で一番のプリントハウスかもしれません。彼らが作り出すプリントにはとてもインスパイアされます。OthとJunnyはとてもいいガイドになってくれて、僕たちでとてもエキサイティングな事を計画中です。


Also ran into Mark aka SBTG and Royalefam. The master of sneaker customization.
SBTGとRoyalefamのMarkにも会いました。スニーカーをカスタマイズするマスターです。


Another beautiful shop on Arab St is KIN (Know It Nothing). Eugene from New Balance Singapore was nice enough to take me around for a bit and next to him is Suraj, the owner of KIN.
Arab ストリートにあるKIN（Know It Nothing)というきれいなお店。ニューバランスシンガポールのEugeneが親切につれてきてくれて、彼の隣にいるのがKINのオーナーのSuraj。







And of course I did have some work to do here. For the PSFK Conference, I spoke a bit about how I stared Staple and the things I've learned along the way. I also gave a private workshop to some local students. I think they were looking to get inspired by me, but actually I was the one that was inspired the most. The kids out there have MAD talent.
